Luke 6:45 NIV
A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
The Bible has a lot to say about the power of the tongue, it paints a clear picture that our words have power. Words are a force that can totally change the direction of our lives. Now in todays scripture notice that the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
The point Jesus is making, it’s what’s in your heart that matters. Your life is a reflection of what is in your heart. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart. “Goods stored up in his heart”, in the greek this word is referring to a deposit. For example if you don’t deposit any money in the bank you won’t be able to withdraw anything. But if you deposit a big sum of money then you can make big withdraws.
So the key is to be smart about what we deposit into our hearts. Typically there is a process to getting past your head and into your heart and that is through Repetition of what you see and hear. So the more time you spend hearing and reading the Word eventually it will take root in your heart. On the contrary if we are constantly watching the news or listening to things contrary to things opposite of the Word, that will get into our hearts. Let’s not just go to a 45 minute sermon on Sunday and watch an hour a night of tv.
There are thousands of Blessings for us in the Bible. Gifts of power, healing, peace, prosperity, joy, love, the list goes on and on. I Believe once you get the Word in your heart and believe it, you will start speaking it and it will come to pass in your life. There is a commercial for a credit card company who has a catchy slogan that goes like this “Whats in your wallet”. The commercial starts out with advertising a bunch of benefits, enticing viewers to sign up for their credit card. As if having the credit card is the answer to going on vacation or having a better life. Friends its not in your wallet that is going to make the difference it's "what is in your heart".
God bless you and may He continue to make Himself known to you.
