Water Baptism is an amazing symbol of what has taken place now that you are Saved. God wants you to see that you are dead to sin and alive in Christ. The old sin nature is washed away and you have become a new creation. The bible says that you have been buried with Christ and raised up to New Life.
Praise God you were a sinner but now you are saved by GRACE. Your sins have been forgiven and will be remembered no more. You are established in covenant with God.
Water Baptism confirms and strengthens your commitment to your new life. It also give you and opportunity to openly testify to others that you have declared Jesus is the Lord and Savior.
Romans 6:2-4 Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? 3. Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death?4. For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.
Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
